Future of E-vehicles in India๐
Introduction:
In today's world, the population is growing at a faster rate, the use of vehicles is also increasing day by day. Before Covid19 pandemic every nation was concerned to conserve their environment. During the lockdown in most of the nations people have breathed in the clean ai r und saw the beauty of nature. Now again the economies have started working again and this is the crucial time to act and move towards the green environment and clean environment. To do this, we need to cut the sources which are highly polluted. We need to free our environment from the claws of carbon emissions and carbon dioxide. In this direction, India can play a vital role by switching over to electric vehicles so that we shall ensure greener or cleaner ecology to our future generations. By doing this, we shall substantially cut in fossil fuel running vehicles. Another benefit would be that our sky would be crystal clear, also we shall then use our resources sustainably. Electric vehicles are smoke free and don't choke our environment with hydrocarbon pollution, UNICEF termed this as "danger in the air". In this way petrol and diesel vehicles are highly inefficient. Also, many studies proved that 70 percent of the precious fuel is being wasted which cannot he recycled, reused or recovered, as they took millions of years to create natural fossil fuels. Another option of compressed natural gas is also not bad but we shall move to better option which is of electric vehicles as these are rechargeable and there is no wastage of energy at all.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari has announced that by the year 2025, India is likely to become electric vehicles manufacturing hub. Government in this direction is also working har d for the first electric highway which will be soon ready to be known as Delhi-Mumbai Green Corridor.
Future of E- Vehicles in India
In the year 2014 under the programme of "MAKE IN INDIA' the government took initiative to encourage the companies to manufacture electric vehicles within the country. Other countries are also positively working on this project. At present there are not much electric vehicles available. In the past few years some electric cars were introduced like Kona electric of Hyundai,E- Verito of Mahindra, Tigor EV of Tata but the demand of these cars was quite low and their prices were also quite high. In the January 2020 Tata launched another electric car named Nexon with some updated features and the cost of this vehicles was kept low us compared to the past introduced E vehicles. Though increase in demand was seen for this car but not that much which is being needed.
In order to increase the demand of E vehicles, first of all government should invest in setting up the charging stations on highways and also at a closer distance because the negative effect of the car is that it don't run on petrol. diesel etc. So, we need to set the power electric stations at a closer distance on highways, in districts, villages etc. Also, the power should be generated from the renewable resources like solar, tidal, wind etc. and if we produce the electricity through coal for these electric cars then it would have no benefits for the environment and again the problem of pollution will exist in our environment though not by the electric vehicles hut generating the electricity through enal. Solar energy shall be the best alternative if utilise it in an efficient manner like in Tamil Nadu, "Kanthi Solar Power Project", is the largest one which ensure that if the electricity through solar power projects is properly utilised that will be highly beneficial for our environments in Haryana state government is working on 500 power electric stations which will be soon set up after finalizing the location at various places in districts, villages etc. Currently on every National Highway in Haryana at every Tourism Resort Complexes charging station for E - vehicles already been set up.
In January 2021, TATA Motors has announced it has partnered with the HAREDA |Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency to deploy Nexon E-Vehicles in Haryana, as a part of its teler with Energy Efficient Services Limited [EESL). HAREDA has further deploy five Nexon electric vehicle to five places at the government offices one each in Chandigarh Panchkula and one each to Faridabad, Gurugram and Karnal. This was done to promote the use of electric vehicles in the coming years. Government should provide the subsidy to the buyers and also to the manufacturer of electric vehicles in increase the use of E-vehicles in the country.
Government needs to provide the incentives in the companies and also require to do the expenditure for the setting up of the power electric stations in large numbers, so that one can travel with ease in the long journey. The biggest benefit of E-vehicle is that the running cost of this is very less as compared to other fossil fuel running vehicles, which is quite economical to the middle class also, if the charging station would he available at shorter distance then it might he possible that people may shift to the electric vehicles there required only one-time investment in purchasing the vehicle and later its running cost is much less. In this way we shall expect a decade of electric vehicles in the coming years soon
At present under the flag of 'Atmnirbhar Bharat' with the slogan of "Local for Vocal". manufacturing of the electric vehicles is going to be enhanced. In the coming years, it is expected that by 2022 E-vehicles will share 25 percent of India's GDP in manufacturing sector. Also, it would lower the import of oil if we switched to the electric vehicles.
Conclusion:
In the nutshell, we can say that the future of E-vehicles in India is bright only if we would have worked hand to overcome the difficulties seen while operating these electric cars on the road. Government needs m develop the infrastructure associated with the electric vehicles in our country. As these vehicles have the key to permanent solution of a cleaner India, it is the green technology if used through proper planning in the direction to conserve the environment.
